Matthew was a very special and talented young man. When we attended family gatherings, he was always a pleasure to talk with very kind and respectful. I loved how he was there to help his grandfather, Bill Fynan, (my uncle). He was a dedicated firefighter and gave many hours in service. My prayers are with Sheryl and Mark through this very difficult time. I have very fond memories of Matt & Mark as they spent weekends at my home with their dad, Bill , Uncle Greg and our daughter Lauren: We went to New York & visited the Statue of Liberty, spent Christmas holidays together, enjoyed barbecues in our back yard and swimming at my parents pool.
We also visited them in Atlanta and visited Stone Mountain.
They were both good kids and great nephews. My prayers are with you Sheryl, Mark and all of your family at this difficult time. Aunt Ellen
My father Alan Nicola worked with Matt in the carpenter field. Upon my dad's passing, Matt bought my dad's work van from my mom. We were happy to see the van go to someone in the same field of work as my dad, because my father valued hard work and saw that in Matt. May he rest in peace!
We grew up together from a very young age. We lived across the street and spent so many days playing sports, giving his younger brother Mark a hard time, and just being boys with not a care in the world. Matt and I both chose the fire service when we were old enough and often talked about joining when we were young. I lost touch with Matt after I got married, but I will always remember the times we had growing up. Matt was my best friend for most of my young life. He was a good firefighter and leader in the fire service. You will be missed brother.
As Matthew's Aunt, I have fond memories of him growing up with his cousins as they shared family times at birthday parties, family picnics, & local sporting events. I especially remember his younger years as the bat boy for the RVL Cinnaminson Kardon Team, being a part of that experience with Pop-pop "Doc" & his Uncle Kevin playing baseball.
My other most fondest memory was going to the July 4th Riverton Parade with family when he was still a young pre-teen. And years later at the same annual parade, being so proud watching Matthew marching as a member of the Palmyra Independence Fire Co. Station 801....that was very special.
And I will always remember Matthew's beautiful vegetable garden; he had a talent for growing tomatoes and other summer produce, abundantly sharing the fruits of his labor with family, friends and neighbors.
He was taken too soon. Rest easy and be at peace in the heavens with our Lord and family who have crossed over that rainbow. Love, Aunt Rene
I have fond memories of Matt and getting him involved with fishing in the Delaware and down the shore...especially Delaware Bay...good times. When he got his boat I remember how proud he was and couldn't wait to take Me out in His boat. We can forever have our memories.
