Karen H. Greer

With deep sorrow and enduring love, we announce the passing of Karen Helene Greer (née Hirsch), who passed away on July 12th at the age of 56, surrounded by her beloved family. Karen was the cherished wife of James Greer for 34 years, a devoted mother to Dr. Mat Greer and his wife Alyssa, and a beloved daughter of Fran Hirsch (née Mensch) and Jules Hirsch. She was a dear sister to Vicki Hirsch Holm and Lawrence Hirsch (Janice), and a loving aunt to Max (Alexa), Lauren, and Danielle (Jared). Karen was born in Philadelphia and spent most of her childhood in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. She graduated from Maple Shade High School, where she was known for her warm heart, sense of humor, and strong friendships that lasted decades. She later settled in Maple Shade with her husband Jim, whom she married in 1991, and together they built a life filled with love, resilience, and joy. They welcomed their son Mat shortly after, and Karen embraced motherhood with fierce devotion and unwavering pride. Karen had a generous and deeply thoughtful spirit. She never missed an opportunity to send a card, whether it was for a birthday, Valentine’s Day, or just because. She believed in staying connected and showed her love in small but meaningful ways, especially through her famously emoji-filled holiday Facebook posts. Karen was a bright presence in the lives of others, always reaching out, always remembering, and always showing up. She faced challenges in life, including recent health struggles, with strength and courage. Through it all, she remained fiercely proud of her family, and excitedly looked forward to becoming a grandmother. Though she passed before meeting her twin granddaughters, they will grow up knowing her through stories, pictures, and the deep love she left behind. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Karen’s life on Saturday, July 19th at Givnish of Marlton, 398 E. Main St., from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Sharing with family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a light lunch. Her love, humor, and kindness touched everyone she met. She will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
