    Barbara W. Chew

    May 11, 1948 - May 22, 2021

Barbara W. Chew (nee Wheeler), of Moorestown, formerly of Pennsville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on May 22, 2021. Born in Camden, NJ to the late Warren Harrah and Dora Alice Wheeler, she was 73 years old. Barbara was the beloved mother of Carolyn Chew and Teri "Ginny" Chew. She was the cherished grandmother (“Granny”) of Caitlyn Chew (Russell Close), Jordan Dinich (Alex), Jessica Mele (Chris), Cole Schaffer, and Aiden Chew; Great grandmother of Ella Jade, Kai Alexander, Adeline Jane, and Vivienne Bobby; Dear sister of Dennis Wheeler (Kathy), Nancy Midure (Robbie), Cathi Klinger (Ken), Ronald Wheeler, the late Mary Eynon (Frank), and the late William Wheeler (Patti). As the proud and treasured matriarch, she was happiest when surrounded by her family. Barbara grew up in Haddonfield, NJ and graduated in 1966 from Haddonfield Memorial High School. While raising her 2 daughters, she began a career in sales, initially as a consultant in the cosmetic company Fashion two twenty. She excelled in business and found a passion for sales, ultimately training consultants and becoming a leader in the field. She ultimately found her calling helping people and went back to school at the age of 50 to obtain her RN degree, becoming a nurse. Barbara loved helping people. She worked as a missionary in Jamaica, and served under privileged areas in Philadelphia. Despite becoming physically disabled, she could be found serving her home made soup and providing clothing to homeless people in need. She was a Christian who loved serving the Lord and adored her family. She would often be found cooking for her family, friends and neighbors. Granny lived her life with intentionality, authenticity, compassion, and a true love for people. We will all remember the sweet rose smell of her perfume, the way she made you feel when you walked into a room, the happiness she exuded when she picked up the phone, and how she made everyone feel like they were just the most special person in the world. We will miss her and remember her for the rest of our lives. Relatives and friends are invited to Barbara’s viewing at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 N., on Friday evening, May 28th, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A memorial gathering will take place, also at Givnish of Cinnaminson, on Sunday, May 30th, from 2 pm to 3 pm, with a memorial service beginning at 3 pm. Barbara's memorial service will also be livestreamed and can be viewed using this link: https://my.gather.app/remember/barbara-chew.
