July 22, 1927 - September 17, 2020
Joseph Frank Farino, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, formerly of Maple Shade and Cinnaminson, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2020. Born on July 22, 1927 in Camden, NJ to the late Frank and Maria Farino. He was a beloved husband to his beautiful wife, Dorothy. In later years, after Dorothy’s passing, he was a devoted husband to Gail. He was predeceased by his siblings, Matt, Anna, Rose, Vinny, Tony, and Phyllis and by sons Frank (Bobbye, nee Schlipstein) and John (Alice, nee Sinesi). He is survived by “his sis”, Lynn, and his children Joseph (Susan, nee Clawell), Christine Conway (Thomas), and Kathleen. Joe was an adoring grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 9. He was the cherished “Uncle Joe” to many nieces and nephews, and a cherished friend to his buddy, Mike. At the age of 16, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army with the permission of his parents and went on to serve in a combat engineers battalion on the Philippine Islands and Okinawa, where he was wounded in combat. Following his service, he married Dorothy and worked for the Campbell Soup Company for many years. At times, Joe worked two jobs to support his family. Also known as “Jersey Joe,” he enjoyed boxing in his younger years, playing pool, dancing, fishing, and bowling. Fun loving, and always with a practical joke at the ready and a smile on his face, he loved his children and family gatherings. He sang at numerous family weddings and brought joy to many until the end of his life. He was always singing his favorite songs, “Ave Maria”, “Mama”, “My Way”, and “Jesus Loves Me.” He spent countless hours doing his word search puzzles and listening to his favorite CDs. Joe put up a good fight the last 8 months, and the last week was a struggle. But he was comforted when his favorite songs were played for him, when he was shown the picture of his mom, dad, and siblings and when prayers were said at his bedside. Until he became very ill, Joe prayed every night for his children, and now his children pray for him to rest in peace. Relatives and friends are invited to his Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish, 236 E. Main Street, Maple Shade, on Wednesday, November 18th at 11 am. Burial of his ashes will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ. To share your fondest memories and condolences, please visit www.Givnish.com.
