On the afternoon of April 5, 2022 Mariano Morales Sr.,age 87, has gone ahead to his final resting place to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. There he will joyously be reunited with his family and friends. He will once again kiss and hold his beloved daughters (Adelaida, Anna, Mirian) and his grandson (Angel Jr.). Mariano, better known as “Pop” to his family or “Ito” to his closest friends and relatives, was born and raised in Camino Nuevo Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. At a young age, Mariano was pulled out of school to help work his father’s farmland. Despite the long, laborious hours and backbreaking work, he loved working with his hands and he especially enjoyed growing produce…it was his passion and he was great at it. He carried this passion late into his twilight years. In addition, it was in his hometown of Camino Nuevo Yabucoa that he met the love of his life, his wife, Maria Gloria. Their love was instant and over the years their souls became inseparable. Together they forged a love affair that spanned nearly 64 years. Along the way, they raised a family centered in the strong belief in God and Catholicism. What kind of man was Mariano, “POP”, or “Ito”? Mariano, for those who knew him, was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. He was a hard-working man with strong beliefs, values, and religious convictions. Despite his educational level, Mariano was extremely sharp and could achieve whatever he set his mind on. Achieving great success throughout his employment history. As a person, Mariano‘s recollection and mind was unparalleled. He was a great storyteller and he could recall details and events easily. He was “Great” with children and they gravitated to him naturally. He loved his family and they loved him. To many of us, he was our “Hero” and our “Protector”…you always felt safe around him. He was an extraordinary man! Mariano is survived by his wife, Maria Gloria Morales. He left behind seven loving children: Angel Luis(& Luz); Carmen Lydia; Mariano Jr.; Adela (& Allan); Maria Elena Quiñones (& Hector); Benito; and Candido Morales (& Jocelyn). In addition, he was grandfather to 15 grandchildren and great grandfather to 19 great grandchildren.
