My heart is heavy with the passing of my dear friend and mentor, Brother Morris Burton. Since I began at Cinnaminson HS in 1998, Mr. Burton took me under his wing as he did with countless others. Some of my fondest memories of High School are laughing with Mr. Burton in his office while Tom Joyner played in the background. Mr. Burton's office was a place to escape the pressure of school and life as a teenager...at least until he realized you were trying to skip class and sent you back to class (with a hall pass of course). But Mr. Burton's dedication to his students was not limited to the walls of CHS, as he helped hold Ebony club meetings, HBCU bus trips, and fraternity meetings in his home. Mr. Burton's door was always open, and that continued even after HS as he continued to keep tabs on me through college, my career, and as I began a family. It was truly a blessing to have had such positive influence in my life. Mr. Burton's humble, kind, and generous spirit has impacted the lives of so many...most certainly mine. I know Mr. Burton, once again reunited with his beloved wife Mrs. Jacquelyn Burton, is smiling down on us. Although not able to make the service, my family and I would like to extend prayers and our heartfelt condolences to the family of Brother Morris Burton. He was most certainly loved and will truly be missed.
