Rita M. Gentile
March 12, 1934 - November 4, 2020
Rita M. Gentile (née Oriente) a longtime resident of Edgewater Park passed away peacefully on November 4th at the age of 86. Beloved wife of 55 years of Charles ‘Charlie’ Gentile. Rita is the loving mother of Charles, Karen Guarino and Andrea Doran (Michael). Grandmother (Nan) of Beau, Bridget, Drew, Luke, Erin and Jenna. Great grandmother of Maverick and Cole. Rita is also survived by her brother Michael Oriente and her sister Dolores Sammaritano. Rita was born and raised in South Philadelphia and graduated from Marie Guretty Catholic High School in Philadelphia. After high school, she worked for 10 years at Dun and Bradstreet as a dictaphone transcriber. Wanting to start a family, she then transitioned into the role of a stay at home mother to her three children. Rita was heavily involved in the Catholic Church in her earlier years. She enjoyed the simple things in life; cooking for her family, crocheting, reading, playing card games, gardening and beach vacation to Ocean City each year. She hosted many memorable holidays in which extended family would attend. One of her greatest joys in her later years were her grandchildren and great grand-children. She would read to them, play games with them, attend their sporting events and was there for all of their major milestones. Relatives and friends are invited to Rita’s Life Celebration on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Givnish’s of Cinnaminson (1200 Route 130 N.) starting 9:30AM followed by her services 12:00PM. Interment Odd Fellows Cemetery, Burlington NJ. Donations in Rita’s name may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital (Stjude.org).
