Russell Cerminara passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 in Cherry Hill, NJ. Born in Philadelphia to Angelo and Angelina Cerminara, Russell was 80 years old. He grew up in South Philly and was a long time resident of Ch Read Obituary
I knew Russ, when we were in school together, in Moorestown, New Jersey. We weren't close friends, but I always liked Russ. One day he wasn't around any more. I ran into him years later and we talk for only a few minutes.
Now I find he passed away. Rest in peace Russ. You were one of the good guys, in my opinion.
Russell gave me a place to start the recording studio which I currently still own and operate MIRROR SOUND RECORDING STUDIO in Seattle WA. At the time I was teaching guitar at RSM Cherry Hill 1 day a week. Rusell offered me the studio space upstairs when it became available. My partner at the time Adam Kessler also has many fond memories of that time and the music we made and recorded there. So many friendships were made. So many professional contacts started. Russell was a great guy, a very fair boss and represents a huge chapter in my life. RIP Russell.
Russell helped me start my music career first by hosting our recoding studio in the attic of his school and by selling to me at discounts so I could resell strings and sticks and heads, and the like to the bands playing in Wildwood in the summer. I also wrote for a magazine I think he published. Good man. Condolences to his family.
Russ started teaching at his home. He then renovated an old house in Cherry Hill, where he had so many students that he had an addition built on by my Dad and husband. There were so many recitals and concerts, had many students receive awards, so many orchestras, bands, and combos, winning a lot of trophies under the direction of "Mr. Russell" and "Mr. Robert" cause students couldn't pronounce Cerminara. So proud, many students went on to become teachers and professionals. He took on an entertainment magazine and radio show, meeting so many famous celebrities. He produced many TV shows and had huge adventures, did many grand openings, hot air ballon race at the Cherry Hill racetrack, enormous food festivals at the Navy Yard and Wildwood Convention Center, with thousands of people in attendance. He made things happen! After he became ill, he amazed so many people. Most of us would have given up. He put up an amazing fight and will be missed by many. I stumbled upon this today simply because I thought of Russell and googled him as I periodically do!! I am so terribly saddened to learn of his passing. My heartfelt condolences go out to Russell's family. I have many fond memories from my days teaching at his school in the early 70's . I always appreciated the opportunity and experience he gave me as a young teacher working for him. His energy and enthusiasm was something I always admired! It was also an especially wonderful time for me because of being associated with the other teachers, students and parents at his school. To me, it felt like we were a family there! Russell afforded me a learning experience I never forgot and will always be thankful for! May you rest in peace, Russell.

I'm very sad to hear of Russell's Passing. I worked for Russell for years at Stepping Out. He was a very strong personable person. We remained friends for over 45 years. My condolences to all family and friends of Russ. May your tears soon be replaced by all of the happy memories. I knew Russ for many, many years professionally and socially. He was a pioneer of the video interview (Happening Now) and he was never at a loss for words-ever. Russell, what do you do? He knows what that means and is probably having a good laugh. I truly enjoyed his company - he was the best dinner partner of all time. Save him a seat at the table, he was always up for a good meal with great people.
