Albert John Bevan's Obituary
Albert John Bevan, of Barnegat, NJ, passed away on Friday, July 12th at the age of 87.
Albert grew up in Philadelphia with his mother, Bernice, sister, Joan and brother, John, where he lived only a few houses away from his future wife, Patricia. After marrying, Albert and Patricia started a family and raised their children Timothy, Lori, Randall and Sharon in Riverton, NJ. After owning his own service station for many years, Al sold the business and joined Holman Lincoln Mercury in Maple Shade as a Master Mechanic, where he worked and trained the younger mechanics until his retirement.
For many years, Al was also an EMT instructor, who taught along side his wife, Patricia, also an instructor. Al and Pat served with the Palmyra Volunteer Ambulance Association with their children Tim, Randy and Sharon, who were inspired by their parents to also become volunteer EMT’s.
Later in life, Albert realized his lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot. He enjoyed taking family and friends on sightseeing flights around the Statue of Liberty, along the New Jersey coastline and over the Pocono Mountains. Al always enjoyed fishing, first with his grandfather and then later with his own children and grandchildren.
Family was always his first priority. He selflessly gave anything and everything he had to ensure that his wife and children were happy, healthy, safe and loved. He spent many happy retirement hours babysitting his grandchildren, and playing with his great grandchildren, who all adored their Pop. He loved and cared for his wife every day, until her passing in 2023. They were married for 66 years.
Al was predeceased by his wife Pat, his sister Joan, and his grandson Casey. He is survived by his children, Timothy Bevan (Carolyn Cohen), Lori Hart (Joseph), Randall Bevan (Janet), and Sharon Bevan; his grandchildren, Melissa Robey (Michael), Candice Stephens (Courtney), Erin Niedermayer; his great grandchildren, Ryan and Kyleigh Robey, and Jordyn, William, and Natalie Stephens; his brother Jack Bevan, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and Don Coverdale, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Please join the Bevan family for a service for Albert on Saturday, July 20th at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson, NJ. Family and friends can meet at the cemetery’s main office at 9:45 am, and the service will begin graveside at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Al’s memory may be made to the Palmyra Ambulance Squad, 125 W. Broad Street, Palmyra, NJ 08065.
