Barbara A Shroyer
Uncle Bert was one of the most fun people to be around. When my sisters and I were small, he would take our family for rides in the Ohio countryside on a visit to somewhere. He would deliberately speed up the car when going over hills just to make us feel like we were on a rollercoaster and singing songs on the way. I remember running track laps with him and he thought I had some aptitude to be a runner. We went once to see the old railroad locomotives, of which he had a historical interest. He also took me on my only trip to see New York City, which I will never forget having never seen a great city before with such sights. He loved to sing and I told him I would want him to sing at my wedding if it ever happened. He was a person who never lost the childlike outlook about life within himself. I will miss him greatly.
