Alfred T. Barsocchi's Obituary
Alfred T. Barsocchi passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, on November 1, 2018. Born in Astoria, L.I.C., NY, Al was 88 years old. He moved to Cinnaminson, NJ in 1963 and resided in Delran, NJ and previously, Seminole, FL.
Beloved husband of 60 years to Geraldine A. (nee Murphy), loving father of Alfred J., Janet E. (Frank) Chiacchio, Pamela B. (John) Carey, Michael R. (Helen) and Eugene F. (Jessica). Devoted Pop-Pop to Nicholas, Jacqueline, CC, Nicole, Kristen and Noah. He was predeceased by his sister, Norma (Barsocchi) Lee and parents Beatrice (Bernardi) and Alfred Mario Barsocchi.
Al’s early career in chemistry led him to Cinnaminson where he was plant manager at AIRCO Industrial Gases in Riverton, NJ. The span of his 38-year career with the company included positions in Murray Hill and Delran, NJ. A career highlight was being a recipient of the prestigious lifetime achievement, SEMI Award. This honor is reserved for those individuals who repeatedly enable and lead the industry, technologically, throughout their professional career. Al’s role in the development of the first commercially available doping gases and their mixtures earned him this prestigious industry honor in 1980. Al retired from BOC gases in 1993.
Al proudly served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Fordham University, Bronx, NY. He was a proud alumnus of Regis High School in Manhattan, NY.
Al was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and would do anything for the family he loved. His greatest pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed reading, completing challenging crossword puzzles, in ink, and a good Manhattan.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Thursday 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130 North. His Funeral Mass will follow 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church, Merchantville.
Interment, with Military Honors, will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park.
