Alice Cannon's Obituary
Alice Cannon
November 15, 1937 – June 6, 2025
Alice Cannon, 87, of Delran, NJ, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025 surrounded by her family. Born in Philadelphia, PA on November 15, 1937, she was the beloved daughter of the late Jack and Anne Dobson.
Alice was the devoted wife of Edward Grant Cannon for 56 wonderful years, and together they built a family rooted in love, strength, and humor. She was a proud and loving mother to Betty Ann Lyons, Diane McLaughlin (Pat), and Ed Cannon (Dawn); cherished grandmother to Dina, Sandi, Tommy, Matthew, Sarah, Allison, Jordan, and Edward; and adoring great-grandmother to Brandon, Dillon, Danielle, Jude, and Sloane. She was also a devoted “Gram” and caretaker to Matt and Paddy.
Alice was the sister of the late Joseph Dobson and a second mother to more people than can be counted. She had a heart that knew no bounds and always made room at the table, in her home, and in her heart. If someone needed a hand, Alice was there—whether it was family, a friend, or even her neighbor.
Fiercely honest and unforgettably funny, you always knew where you stood with Alice. She held nothing back and gave everything of herself to those she loved. She was generous with her time, her wisdom, and her baked goods—especially her famous Poor Man’s Cake and Jewish Apple Cake.
Alice loved music and dancing, particularly to the sounds of Freddy Fender and Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” Her spirit lit up a room and her laughter echoed long after she’d left it.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alice’s memory may be made to the Burlington County SPCA or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Private services will be held by the family.
Alice Cannon was, above all, a caretaker, a truth-teller, and the heart of her family. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
