Angelo J. Maiale's Obituary
Angelo J. Maiale passed away peacefully in Philadelphia on September 4, 2024. He was 95 years old. Born in Philadelphia to Ralph and Concettina Maiale and raised in the Fairmount section of the city, he is predeceased by his loving wife Marie (nee Murphy), siblings Nicholas Maiale, Ann Rook, Mary Maiale, and many lifelong friends.
Angelo graduated from Roman Catholic H.S. and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After retiring from his long career with the U.S. Postal Service, he would go on to continue to work in the mail services and management industry where he formed many lasting relationships until finally retiring in 1999.
Marie was the love of his life and they enjoyed fine dining, theater, and the arts both locally and abroad. They traveled to Europe and many U.S destinations including over 75 trips to Williamsburg, VA, one of their favorite places to spend time together. Angelo made many trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, with his golf buddies and spent winters in Vero Beach, FL later in life. No matter where he was, it was not uncommon for Angelo to make new friends along the way. He played golf into his late 80s, enjoyed the beach, nice cars, and followed the careers of professional golfers, and was a dedicated fan of Philadelphia sports teams.
A long time parishioner of Presentation B.V.M. parish in Cheltenham, PA, Angelo had a strong catholic faith which was evident by his willingness to always extend a helping hand or perform a random act of kindness. He loved animals (including the stray cats around his apartment building), had a great sense of humor and smile, loved a “good laugh”, and lived life to the fullest. He will be truly missed and the memories of the fun times spent together will be cherished by many forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Angelo’s life by attending services at Sacred Heart Church, 103 Fourth Street, Riverton, NJ, on Saturday, September 14th, at 10:30am. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to
