Anthony L. DiLoreto's Obituary
Anthony L. DiLoreto, age 57, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at his home in Medford Lakes surrounded by his family. He was born in Cherry Hill, NJ and was lovingly raised by his parents, Marie and Louis DiLoreto.
Tony enjoyed a long and successful career in law enforcement. He began as a Sheriff’s Officer in Camden County, then moved to Lumberton Police Department as a patrolman. He rose through the ranks at LTPD, achieving the title of Detective, Detective Sergeant., and finally Police Chief. He held that position proudly for 7 years until his retirement.
Tony also owned and operated a successful landscaping business, Extra Yard Landscaping, for 28 years. He loved being outdoors and working beside his many dedicated employees, including his sons.
One of the highlights of his life was playing basketball under Coach Jim Crawford at Camden Catholic High School alongside his best friends, whom he remained close with and were always there for him. He continued his love of basketball by coaching his sons’ teams and attending all of their games.
Tony was a die-hard Philadelphia sports fan. He especially loved and appreciated his sister-in-law, Kathy Mair, who made his dream of attending multiple World Series’ and an Eagles Super Bowl Championship a reality.
There was not a more perfect day for Anthony than spending an afternoon under the pier at Margate Beach with a Blue Moon in hand and listening to Pearl Jam Radio with his wife, Kim.
Beloved husband of 31 years to Kim (nee Mair). Loving father of Anthony, Marc, Darren and Dante. Brother of Louis (Kathie) DiLoreto. Tony is survived by his mother-in-law, Doris Udry, his sister-in-law, Kathy Mair, and brother-in-law Michael (Julie) Mair. After 53 years, Tony was able to find and connect with his birth parents, Carol Anne Humes and Gary Brestle. They were able to enjoy a loving and happy relationship. Carol was especially over-the-moon about finding her only child, and was able to visit with him often.
Tony left this world the same way he lived in it: strong, brave and thinking of his family and friends above himself. His unrelenting work-ethic, strength of character, sense of humor and dedication to those that he loved will be forever missed by those who knew him.
After the Eagles win this weekend’s Super Bowl, Tony’s final wishes will be honored with a gathering of friends and family, to be held on Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 from 9:30AM – 11:00AM at Givnish of Marlton, 398 East Main St. His memorial service will begin at 11:00AM.
