Antonio J. DeBrito's Obituary
Antonio John De Brito, 97, of Delanco, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019.
Antonio joined the United States Marine Corps at age 18 in 1940 and served during WWII. He was stationed in Bermuda when the US entered the war. Later he attended glider training in Ft. Worth, TX; flight school in Nachitoches, LA, and Athens, GA; and learned navigation in Cherry Point, NC. He served as a navigator and later as a drill instructor in Cherry Point, NC, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. After being Honorably Discharged in 1945, he returned to Philadelphia to study Design, where he met his future wife, Adella.
A resident of Willingboro for 55 years, Antonio was a founding faculty member of Cinnaminson High School where he taught Industrial Arts for many years. He remained friends with many of his fellow colleagues until his passing. He was a skilled woodworker, loved to travel, and enjoyed watching football.
Antonio was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Italian immigrants and was preceded in death by sisters Carmella Casey, Josephine Damico, and Louise Watson.
Antonio J. De Brito was the devoted husband of Adella for 63 years until her death in 2016. He was the caring father of Anthony, Mark, Lisa, Christina, and Daniel. He was the proud grandfather of Anelia, Matthew, Nicholas, Jennifer, Luke, Celina, Clayton, Marley, and Nicholai. He had 2 great-grandchildren.
Services for Antonio De Brito will be held privately by his family at a later date.
