Arthur B. O'Connor, Jr.'s Obituary
Arthur B. O’Connor, Jr., 86, of Marlton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born in Newark, NJ on September 19, 1932. He was a graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark (class of 1950), Rutgers University, and Wharton Graduate School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received his MBA in Business Administration. He served in the US Army in Germany.
Arthur is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy Kievitt O’Connor, three daughters, Kathleen (David) Rosenzweig, Peggy (Miles) Nelson and Cheryl (Jonathan) Parker, and six grandchildren; Lisa (John) Mayo, Kelly (Mark) Kruzel, Emily (Demmy) and Alex Nelson, and Morgan and Jameson Parker, along with one sister, Maureen Graney, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Michael O’Connor.
Art started his career in the investment business at Drexel & Co. in 1958. During his 37 years in the business, he worked in various investment firms in the Philadelphia area as a trader, salesman, partner, Vice President, investor, and Co-owner of his own firm. He also served as an arbitrator for the NASD. Art retired from Herzog, Heine, Geduld in Philadelphia in 1995.
Art lived most of his married life in Willingboro, NJ where he raised his family. He served as an usher for Corpus Christi Church for 35 years. In 1995 he moved to Hernando County, Florida, and resided in Silverthorn where he spent his retirement years golfing, working in the garden, enjoying new friendships and monitoring his investments. Art was extremely proud of his three daughters and his three holes-in-one. Art moved back to N.J. in 2017.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, May 13th from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church 100 Willow Bend Rd. Marlton, NJ.
His Memorial Mass will follow 11 a.m. Military Honors will follow. Burial will be held privately at a later date.
