Barbara V. Colsey's Obituary
Barbara Ann (nee Van Horn) Colsey, 86, of Burlington, NJ, a retired State of New Jersey Judge of Workers’ Compensation, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2021, with her family by her side. Barbara graduated from Immaculata College and Villanova Law School and was admitted to the Bar of the State of New Jersey in 1960. She practiced law for many years in Burlington County, serving as a Municipal Court Judge for Burlington Township, as a federal mediator, as solicitor or acting solicitor for various municipalities, and serving on a variety of community boards including as a member of the Burlington County Library Commission and the Board of Trustees for Burlington County College. She was active with both Burlington County and New Jersey State Bar Associations, serving on various committees, including serving as a Trustee of the Burlington County Bar Association and as Chairman of the Women’s Rights Section of the NJSBA. She was eloquent, compassionate, and gracious. A wonderful mother and role model. Predeceased by her husband, William B. Colsey, III and son, W. Bartlette Colsey, IV. Survived by Allison Eck (T. Michael).
A gathering of friends and family will be held on January 3, 2022, at St. Paul Church, the Parish of St. Katherine Drexel, 223 E Union St, Burlington, NJ 08016, at 9:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m. Her funeral mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s name can be made to the American Lung Association, Best Friends Animal Society, Immaculata College or the charity of your choice.
