Barbara E. Easterbrook's Obituary
Barbara Ellen Easterbrook passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 27, 2026 in Marlton, NJ. She was born on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 1938 in Columbus, OH to the late Ruth Creek and Dillard Reed.
Barbara was the devoted wife of David Easterbrook for nearly 44 years. She was the beloved mother of John Lass (Susan), Jennifer Lass, Jessica Lass-King (Mike), Rachel (Easterbrook) Fabian (Darren), Quinn Patrick Easterbrook (Cammy) and Jill (Easterbrook) Townsend. She was a proud grandmother to Katharyn Lass, John James Lass, Catelyn Hampton, Alyssa Wadusky, Ariana King, Emily Lass, Emma Fabian, Olivia Lass and Riley Easterbrook. She is also survived by sisters Leslye Creek (Chuck) and Kelly Shasky (John), as well as two cherished nieces.
Barbara was a graduate of West High School and attended The Ohio State University and remained a lifelong football fan of the Buckeyes. She embraced a variety of careers including modeling for department stores and on television in Columbus, Ohio, and in New Jersey delivering newspapers, baking sugar-free pies at Zagara’s, working at Xerox headquarters and serving customers at Kohl’s. At the latter she earned the coveted lifelong Friends & Family Discount, and her family fondly remembers the annual back-to-school and Christmas shopping sprees. Barbara also proudly served as an elementary school crossing guard for the Cherry Hill Police Department for 25 years until illness forced her retirement last September.
Barbara loved traveling, staying active and being social. She was a member of the Marlton Seniors Club where she played bingo and was a 30-year-plus member of the Elkette's at the Marlton Elks Lodge No. 2514. Each spring she looked forward to watching the Phillies, and each evening she tested her knowledge watching Jeopardy!
Above all, Barbara’s greatest joy in life was being a spouse, mother and “Grandy” – the latter was her custom license plate. She was intelligent, stubborn and never afraid to share her opinion. Her love, wit and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are invited to a social gathering in Barbara’s honor on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Givnish of Marlton, 398 E. Main Street, Marlton, NJ. A memorial service will follow at 1:00 PM.
