Barbara L. Lobe's Obituary
Barbara Lorraine Lobe (nee Hallowell), 84, longtime resident of Delran, NJ passed away suddenly on October 9, 2018.
Barbara was a homemaker and also worked many years as an executive secretary for Hill International located in Willingboro, NJ.
Barbara was a devoted wife of 57 years to her husband Robert D. Lobe until his death in 2014. She was a loving mother to her three children – Leslie A. Follebout (Roger), Robert W. Lobe (Debora) and Glenn D. Lobe. Barbara was a caring grandmother to Roger III (Ingrid) Follebout-Ramirez and Lauren Follebout; Heather, Lindsey, and Robert P. Lobe. She was also a great-grandmother to Emmett.
Barbara was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 20, 1934, an only child to William and Lorraine (nee Hoin) Hallowell. She attended and graduated from Frankford High School, and began her secretarial career at Tompkins Label Company. Soon after, she met the love of her life, husband Bob, at the wedding of mutual friends. They married in 1956, and settled into their first home on Glenloch Street in the Wissinoming section of Philadelphia. All three of their children were born at Frankford Hospital, and the family eventually moved to their new home in the Millside section of Delran, NJ in 1965.
Barbara was very fond of her home, and that showed through her passion and talent for interior decorating and design. She also loved cooking and entertaining. She had a great reputation for hosting creative and memorable themed parties, including those with her dear friends from the ‘KAFFEL’ gourmet dining club. Barbara and husband, Bob, also enjoyed traveling and exploring the world, with visits to 47 US states, many oceanic cruises, and trips to Europe and several Pacific islands including their favorite, Tahiti.
Barbara was a faithful member and had many friends, at the First United Methodist Church of Moorestown. She was comforted and assured by her firm Christian faith which grew stronger through the years. She was saddened when her attendance at the church became difficult due to her health over the past few years.
A Celebration of Life service for Barbara L. Lobe will be held at First United Methodist Church of Moorestown, 446 E. Camden Avenue, Moorestown, NJ 08057, on Saturday, November 3, 2018 starting at 11am. After the service, an inurnment for Barbara L. Lobe will take place in the Memory Garden, located on the grounds of First United Methodist Church-Moorestown.
