Barbara J. Zimmerman's Obituary
Barbara J. Zimmerman (nee McKay), of Delran, NJ, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Thomas and Jean McKay. She was 76 years old.
Barbara was the beloved wife of George E. Zimmerman for 55 years (Barbara would say, “that was a long day”). Loving Mother of Brian Lee Zimmerman (Cindy), and Lynda Ann Lotierzo (Ray). Cherished Grandma and Gammie to Brianna Zimmerman (Tom), Zach Zimmerman, Juliana Lotierzo (Brian), Marissa Lotierzo (Mason), and Kayla Lotierzo. Dear sister of Thomas McKay (Gail). Barbara is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, fur babies, extended family members and friends who will miss her greatly.
Barbara was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, but spent most of her childhood in Maryland. She grew up spending time there on her grandmother's farm. She told stories of playing with the farm animals and learning how to cook. She loved to spend time with her grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Barbara was described as being kind, selfless and caring. She loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren. Barbara enjoyed having nights out with her dear husband George, and loved to try the best new local restaurants. She loved having movie days with her daughter Lynda, baking cookies for Santa night for her son Brian. She loved having lunch dates with her Granddaughter Brianna that included visiting historic cemeteries to find the oldest headstone. Barbara loved to support her grandson Zach in all of his sport endeavors. Barbara spent time with Juliana, Marissa and Kayla- teaching them how to bake, knit, shop and cheered them on with every activity they did.
When she was not with her family, you could find Barbara watching “Court TV” with a cross-stitch in hand, snuggling with her pets. Barbara loved to play games on her computer in which she had made many life-long friends. Barbara also spent her days in the kitchen finding and trying new recipes. Her passion was to cook, and she was sure good at it.
