Bela Mukhoti's Obituary
Dr. Bela Mukhoti passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 4th, 2015. Born in Dhaka, India, Bela highly regarded education and inspired others to do the same through her tenure as an Economics professor. She enjoyed travel for work and leisure, with some of her favorite destinations being India, London, and Russia. In her time at home, she enjoyed photography, poetry, and gardening.
Among Bela’s many accomplishments were receiving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant in the National Cadet Corps of New Dehli, earning her Ph.D in Economics from the London School of Economics, and serving as an economic advisor to the administrations of Presidents Carter and Regan. Most recently, Bela participated in the prestigious Oxford Roundtable at the University of Oxford, England.
Bela is predeceased by her husband, Shanti Ranjan, and daughter, Gauri Mona. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Joyoti Fleming, dear grandchildren, Stephen and Samidha Fleming, and several brothers, sisters, and close relatives.
Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation at 6:30pm followed by memorial services at 7pm on October 15th at Snover-Givnish Funeral Home, 1200 Route 130 North, Cinnaminson, NJ.
