Bruce E. Ebbeson's Obituary
Bruce E. Ebbeson, a Medford, NJ resident for close to 45 years, peacefully passed away on October 29, 2023, at the age of 75, after a brief illness. He was born on August 18, 1948, in New Bedford, MA, to the late Herbert and Joan Ebbeson. Bruce was a devoted husband of 52 years to Sharman Ebbeson (nee LeVan), a loving father to Whitney Geller (Jared) and Peyton Ebbeson (Katie), and a cherished grandfather to Emma, Chloe, Isla and Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Valerie Fletcher, and will be deeply missed by numerous relatives and friends.
Bruce received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Engineering at Tufts University in Medford, MA and as an alumnus, he conducted admissions interviews to local South Jersey college applicants. He dedicated forty two years of his life working as a structural engineer for Stone and Webster/Shaw Group/CB&I, before retiring. Throughout his career, he focused on the structure and design of nuclear power facilities, traveling across the world to consult and inspect.
During retirement, Bruce gave back to his community as an active member of the Medford Environmental Affairs Advisory Committee (EAAC) & Green Team and volunteered his time filing taxes for area residents with AARP. During his leisure time, he enjoyed traveling, word and number puzzles, playing golf and following professional sports, particularly pro golf and his Boston teams. He also loved watching his children’s sports and activities from childhood through college. His passion for nature led him to spend countless hours in his yard observing birds and the fish in his pond.
A gathering to celebrate Bruce's life will be held on Friday, November 17th, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Givnish of Marlton, 398 E. Main Street, and again on Saturday, November 18th, from 10:00am to 11:00am. A life celebration service will follow at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates donations made to two of his favorite organizations, Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge and Pinelands Preservation Alliance.
