Burton Barsky's Obituary
Burton Barsky passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. Born in Philadelphia to Sol and Lottie Barsky, Burt was 80 years old. He was a resident of Maple Shade and formerly lived in Doylestown, PA.
Beloved husband of 46 years to the late Eleanore A. Barsky and loving father of Sharon D. (Louis) Verdeur and Michael Barsky. He was the cherished grandfather to Joshua, Lucas and Dana, and brother of the late Ida Sabolsky. He will be missed by many in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
Burt proudly served his country in the US Army, stationed in Germany, as a guard at the Berlin Wall during its construction. He often shared the story of how he befriended the cook so that he could get left over desserts!
He was employed for many years as a mortgage courier for Cardinal Mortgage Company in Ft. Washington, PA. He and his wife were members of the Centennial Singers Choir, and formed life long, cherished friendships there. They made wonderful memories together of concerts, holiday gatherings, swim parties, and travel.
In retirement, Burt and Eleanore enjoyed traveling together, flea market shopping, and spending time with their children and grandchildren. Later, Burt cheered on his grandchildren in all of their sports and activities. and delighted in their accomplishments. He was also a true Indy Racing and NASCAR fan. Burt was a fan before it was "cool," and he amassed an impressive collection of memorabilia over his lifetime. He loved going to the races, especially in Indianapolis and Dover.
Burt was a blessing to his family and friends. He will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral services and burial of urn will be at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
