Obituary for Carlton Bennett
February 11, 1957 – June 6, 2025
Carlton Bennett, a beloved father at 68, passed away on June 6, 2025, in New Jersey.
Born on February 11, 1957, in the vibrant town of St. Andrew, Kingston 6, Jamaica, to Roy
Bennett and Milicent (nee Matthews), Carlton’s journey took a transformative turn in 1984 when
he immigrated to the United States. It was here that fate brought him together with Monique
Bennett (née Haskins), and together they crafted a remarkable legacy, raising a large and loving
family.
As a devoted father, Carlton poured his heart and soul into his twelve children: Suzette, Darick,
Shawn, Brittany, Carlton, Meka, Branden, Gabriella, Letecia, Joshua, Nastasia, and Chance. He
cherished each moment spent with them and was a doting grandfather to Eden, Jayla, Aniyah,
Branden Jr., Karter, Kouri, Khailai. Brayden, Nalani, and Brysen. His warmth continues through
the countless lives he touched, including those of his siblings.
Carlton was not just a father; he was a self-made entrepreneur whose passion and determination
defined him. With an education in telephone engineering, he became known for his remarkable
work ethic and exceptional ability to repair and construct almost anything. His hands were
always busy, whether crafting something new or repairing old treasures. Possessing a sharp mind
for mathematics, he inspired those around him, eagerly imparting his knowledge to his children,
nieces, and nephews, becoming a mentor to many.
With a calm demeanor and unwavering confidence, Carlton radiated genuineness. He had a
unique gift for bringing people together, a trait that drew family and friends into his warm
embrace. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he seldom turned down a request for support.
His presence was a steadfast love that provided comfort and security to everyone around him.
A passionate fan of all Philadelphia sports, Carlton carried the spirit of Jamaica in his heart,
remaining an avid cricket enthusiast who celebrated his roots.
A gathering of family and friends to honor his life will take place on Thursday, June 19, from
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North. The funeral service
will commence at noon, followed by a burial at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in
Pennsauken, New Jersey.
Carlton Bennett will be remembered not just as a man but as an extraordinary father and a
wellspring of strength and warmth for all who were fortunate enough to know him. His legacy of
love, generosity, and wisdom will continue to inspire future generations.
