Carmen A. DeSoto's Obituary
Carmen A. DeSoto (nee Morgan) passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 31, 2021 at Laurel Brook Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mt. Laurel surrounded by her loving family. Carmen was born in Brooklyn, NY to Claude and Aurora Morgan. She was 95 years old. She was a resident of Maple Shade for the last 20 years.
Carmen was the beloved wife of the late Frank Soto.
Loving mother of the late Sandra Chapman.
Beloved grandmother of Candace M. Chapman and William “Butch” J. Chapman and his wife Vicki.
Cherished great grandmother of Aletha (Amit) Shah, James McWilliams, Randall (Kaitlyn) McWilliams, John McWilliams, the late Candace “Sweet Pea” K. McWilliams, Tiffany Chapman and William “Billy” Chapman and great-great grandmother of Annabelle Entwistle, Arya and Anya Shah, and Cassidy McWilliams, Tatum, Tansie and Tanora Chapman and Brayden Chapman.
In her early life Carmen was a proud union shop steward at Squibbs Pharmaceutical where she worked for 30 years. She raised a daughter and cared for her mother. Carmen’s later endeavors included parenting her grandchildren and her absolute devotion to her husband, the love of her life. Carmen also worked for the New York Board of Education for many years as a Bi-Lingual Aide. At the age of 75 she moved to Maple Shade to help parent her great-grandchildren. Carmen will be well remembered among many in Maple Shade. ‘Carmen was the true matriarch of the family and took care of all of her family for decades.
A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday, November 7th, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Givnish of Maple Shade 600 East Main Street. Carmen’s funeral service will begin at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place Monday 1 p.m, at the Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY.
