Carmen Joaquin's Obituary
Saturnina “Carmen” Joaquin, 96, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on April 28, 2026, just days after celebrating her 96th birthday.
Born on April 23, 1930, in Villa de Carmen, Nicaragua, she was the beloved daughter of Antonio and Tomasa Joaquin.
Carmen was a devoted mother to Thelma Mazzarulli (Pete), and a proud and loving grandmother to Lily Mazzarulli (Brian Razzi), Julissa Guarino (Stephen), and Anthony Mazzarulli (Cindy). She was a cherished great-grandmother to Dillon, Julien, Damien, Brielle, Mimi, and Anthony. She was predeceased by her siblings and will be deeply missed by her cousins Giovannia, Steven, Marlon, Sharon, Alexia, and Sandra.
Carmen will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She worked as a chef for the Colombian embassy, where she shared her extraordinary talent and love for cooking. Outside of her work, she found immense happiness in preparing meals for those she loved—Spanish cuisine was truly her passion.
She was known for her vibrant spirit and caring nature, always putting others before herself—even up through her 96th birthday. Carmen took great pride in her appearance and never left the house without being impeccably dressed and adorned in her favorite jewelry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held over the summer. Please check back for further details.
