Carolyn Sorensen Rapp's Obituary
Carolyn Sorensen Rapp (Bergh), of Moorestown, passed away on April 6, 2019 at the age of 77.
Carolyn was born in 1942 and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She was a graduate of the Berkeley Secretarial School in New York and worked for the US Trust Company followed by Raymond International in Manhattan. Carolyn met and married her beloved husband, George Sorensen in 1962. They lived in Brooklyn until moving to Mahwah, NJ in 1971 where they raised their 3 daughters. Carolyn returned to work as a secretary for the Wyckoff YMCA, working for 9 years until she and George retired to Plant City, Florida. They enjoyed life in Florida, where Carolyn picked up golf to share George’s favorite sport. Carolyn and George eventually re-retired to NJ to be closer to their daughters and their growing families. Carolyn was a prolific volunteer throughout her life supporting such groups & causes as Meals on Wheels, tutoring English as a second language students in Florida and for the past 14 years she actively volunteered at her church home, the First Presbyterian Church, including the knitting network, the funeral committee, the Interfaith Hospitality Network and helping once a week in the church office. Carolyn was also generous with her time knitting, crocheting, and quilting beautiful gifts for those she loved the most.
Carolyn was the beloved mother of Karen Hynoski and her husband Jeff of Moorestown, NJ, Anita Carter and her husband Scott of San Diego, CA, and Jennie Van Landingham and her husband Mark of Gaithersburg, MD. Loving grandmother of Kaitlyn, Kristen and Lauren Hynoski, Allie and Ben Carter, and Luke and Elyse Van Landingham. Dear sister of Cliff Bergh and his wife Eliza of Vermont. She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews and extended family members who will miss her dearly.
Relatives and friends are invited to Carolyn’s memorial service at the First Presbyterian Church of Moorestown, 101 Bridgeboro Rd., on Saturday, May 4th, at 10:30. Light refreshments will follow in the Fellowship Hall at the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Carolyn’s name to the church.
