Catherine L. Van Horn's Obituary
Catherine L. Van Horn (nee Trinkle), passed away peacefully with her family by her side at her home in Maple Shade, NJ on March 26, 2017. She was 66 years old. Cathy fought with ovarian cancer for nearly 7 years. Her battle and the way she portrayed herself is a true model of stoicism at its best…never complaining and always maintaining a positive attitude with an infectious smile on her face. While she was never cancer free, she still won that battle in her own way and is now free of cancer.
Cathy was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 8, 1950. She attended high school at St. Hubert’s and graduated in 1968. She went on to earn her degree as a certified PHR while working as the Director of Human Resources for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP). She enjoyed hobbies such as crocheting and reading but what was most important to her was her family. She excelled at being a wife, mother and friend.
Cathy was the beloved wife of Charles J. “Chas” Van Horn for 47 years. Loving mother of Christopher (Megan), Matthew (Rebecca), and Kelley Van Horn. Devoted grandmother of Christopher, Briana, Samantha, Dorian, and Marcus. Step grandmother of Alexis, Kayla, and Colin. Loving daughter of Helen Trinkle and the late Charles Trinkle. Dear sister of Helen Szafran (Dave), Charles Trinkle (Roxanne), and Edward Trinkle (Kathy).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Catherine’s life celebration gathering at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 236 E. Main St., Maple Shade, on Thursday, March 30th from 11 am – 1 pm. A prayer service will begin at 1 pm. Interment is private.
