Many times while traveling, I will exchange contacts with people and often times won't follow through and keep in touch
With Chuck however, I decided to commit to it, after all... my son and I had a lot of fun hanging out with him and getting to know him throughout our 10-day vacation in Italy
Chuck was older than us and even had a pace maker, but guess what?? He had more energy and enthusiasm than the both of us as we found out one evening when we were going out to find a foam spraying night club! We had a great time!
I always gravitate to positive, funny people but Chuck was also very interesting in many other ways. He was in the Military, decoding russian intelligence of some kind and knew a lot of interesting things about history and politics. The best quality however, was his kindness and generosity
Anyway, I kept in touch and visited him and his mom Helen a couple times in maple shade NJ. They both treated me and my family like we had known each other all our lives!
I recently talked to him on the phone and asked him how he remained positive and cheerful all the time. He said he removed anger and negativity from himself long ago. Not sure how since he looked like "Dennis the Menace" :)
He and Helen will be missed..... Sorry I didn't make it to his service
