Charles G. Slemmer's Obituary
Charles G. Slemmer, 92, of Cinnaminson, NJ, and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2024. Born on September 24, 1932, to David and Evelyn Slemmer (née Dickenson), Charles lived a full life marked by service, dedication, and love.
He was the devoted husband of Christine Slemmer until her passing in 2014. Charles was a beloved father to Charles Slemmer, Thomas Slemmer, Christine Fedorowycz (the late Jerry), Susan Orange (Roy), the late Bruce Slemmer, and Helena Evans (Francis). He cherished his role as grandfather to the late Thomas Wilcox (Andrea), Christine Bottomer (James), Kerry Bowers (Charles), Susanne Slemmer, Michelle Slemmer, Erin Orange, Jamie Slemmer, Francis Evans (Colleen), Melissa Slemmer, Regina Wolf (Ryan), Helena Hrapczynski (Ryan), Erin Evans, and Shelby Salerno (Shane), as well as many great-grandchildren. Charles is survived by his sisters Jeannie and Patsy, and was predeceased by his siblings Mike, Dutchie, and Jerry. He will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Charles proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Alaska, where he created lasting memories that his family fondly remembered through his stories. He spent many years as a dedicated Philadelphia Sheriff and was a proud lifelong resident of the city. In his leisure time, Charles enjoyed listening to Phillies games, watching classic western films, and walking for exercise, often accompanied by the sounds of his favorite country music. A devoted lottery player, Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved his daily cup of tea. Above all, he will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, especially his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at a gathering on Thursday, November 7th, from 6 - 8 pm and Friday, November 8th, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Riverton, NJ, with interment at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
