Claire Turner's Obituary
Claire Turner, aged 77, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2024, resident of Mount Laurel, NJ, having formerly resided in Philadelphia, PA. Born in Philadelphia on April 6, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Helen McManus. Claire was the devoted spouse of the late Charles W. Turner, who preceded her in death in 2020. She was a cherished mother to Michael Turner (Wendy), Michelle McCarron (Edward), and Brian Turner (Joanna), and a beloved "Mom Mom" to Matthew, Lily, and Angus. Claire was a sister to Joseph McManus (Deborah) and the late Lawrence McManus (late Mary). She was also a sister-in-law to Robert Turner (Patricia) and James Turner (Elizabeth). Her memory will be cherished by numerous friends and relatives, especially those from Philadelphia, where she spent the majority of her life, and her community at Holiday Village in Mount Laurel.
Claire embarked on her professional journey as an early childhood education teacher and later in banking specifically at the Police and Fire Federal Credit Union in Philadelphia, PA. Starting as a teller, she gradually advanced to become a customer service representative and later a trainer for fellow employees. In addition to her professional pursuits, Claire volunteered at her children’s and grandchildren's schools. She had a passion for shopping and could often be found at Macy's or browsing through QVC. Following her husband Charles's move to Harmony Village, she devoted her time to visiting him daily and helping their staff and his fellow residents. For many years, Claire served on the welcoming committee at Holiday Village in Mount Laurel, fostering numerous friendships, engaging in line dancing, and delighting in water aerobics. Among her many joys were spending quality time with her grandchildren, attending musical theater, reading, nurturing her plants and attending church regularly as a devoted Catholic.
A gathering of friends and family will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ from 9:00am to 10:45am on Monday, January 8th. Her funeral mass will follow at 11:00am, and will be livestreamed: https://www.viewlogies.net/givnish/DFULAjF9B?pin=264260.
