Colonel Frank S. Koos' Obituary
Col. Frank S. Koos, 94, of Medford, NJ, formerly of South River, NJ, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2022 with his family by his side. Devoted husband to Elsie Koos (nee Pituk) for over 71 years. Dear father to Kenneth S. Koos (Julie), Karin Koos, and Frank L. Koos (Jennifer N. Bowen). Beloved grandfather to Courtney Koos- Dowell (Brian), Karyn Bohli, Kelsey Koos and Colin Koos.
Frank was born and raised in South River, NJ where he met his childhood sweetheart and future wife Elsie. He attended South River High School in town where he played varsity football, receiving All State and All County Honors. After graduating high school, he attended Valley Forge Military Academy and Rutgers University where he was a starting center on the varsity football team and majored in Ceramic Engineering. He proudly served in the United States Army for over 30 years, including serving in the Korean War and Vietnam War. Frank received many awards and recognitions including Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster and the Army Commendation Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. After his years in the military, Frank and his family moved to Medford, NJ. He worked for businesses such as SEMCOR of Moorestown and UTRS of Cherry Hill.
Funeral services for Frank will be held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/.
