Connye Marie Jackson's Obituary
Connye Marie Jackson (nee Strandmark), of Hainesport, NJ, passed away unexpectedly of a pulmonary embolism on April 17, 2023. Born in Minneapolis, MN to the late Roy and Mildred (nee Seward) Strandmark. She was 81 years old.
Connye lived a full, happy, and successful life. She had an idyllic childhood in Minnesota growing up in a house built by her father and next door to a gaggle of cousins (Grace, Carolyn, Mary, Oliva, and Paula) and spending summers at Gull Lake with her cousin Craig (Joy) Hutchinson. She attended the University of Minnesota where she met life-long friends, some of whom she traveled with throughout the U.S. for many years. While her future husband Harvey was also a University of Minnesota student, they met while working together at a grocery store. One day after work, Connye’s car broke down and Harvey offered her a ride home. This turned out to be the “ride” of their lives, leading to more than 61 years of wedded bliss.
Connye was a successful real estate agent and broker in South Jersey for close to four decades. She loved her job and the people she worked with over the years. She took immense pride in her real estate career and earned a Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation and became a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS).
As a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, Connye loved being on the water. After retiring, she spent much of her time living the good life at her home on the Chesapeake Bay and rafting out with friends, blasting the song “Pontoon,” and enjoying many a sunset on her aptly named pontoon boat, the “Party Barge.” She also took great pleasure in sewing and sharing thoughts about books with her Book Club friends.
Connye was the beloved wife of Harvey E. Jackson; loving mother of Cari Wild (Edward) and Camala “Cami” Colella (Paul); cherished grandmother of Taylor Wild, Samuel Wild, Jake Wild, Tess Wild, Krista Pachuta (Scott), Matthew Colella (Stephanie), and Cameron Colella; great grandmother of Nolan & Bailey Pachuta and one more on the way (Colella). Connye was predeceased by her sister, Nancy (Larry) Eilers. She is survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends, many of whom became like family to her when she moved from Minnesota to New Jersey in 1970. She will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to her visitation 10-11 am on Monday, July 10, 2023 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 910 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ. A Memorial Service will celebrate her life beginning at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Foundation or JDRF (Type I Diabetes Research) in Connye’s memory would be greatly appreciated and may be made online at https://www.chop.edu/giving or JDRF.org.
