Dan Silva Sr.'s Obituary
Dan Silva, Sr. (“Dan the Man”), age 89, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully. Born January 7, 1937, in Camden, New Jersey, he was the beloved son of John DaSilva and Alice Festas. Dan is also predeceased by his siblings, Dr. John Silva and Aurora Silva.
Dan was a proud resident of Cinnaminson for 60 years. He was the devoted and loving husband of 69 years to Rosalind Silva (née DiFrancisco), with whom he built a lifetime of love, laughter, and family.
He was a cherished father to Rose Marie Powell (Robert Powell) and Daniel Charles Silva (Cindy Styron). Dan was a proud and loving “Pop Pop” to Lyndsay Tyler (Wes), Amanda McGerald (Spenser), Dominic Silva, and Brandon Silva, and a treasured great-grandfather to Hunter Tyler, Jace McGerald, and Ben McGerald.
He is also survived by his siblings, Joe Silva, Mary Alice Tiberi, and Charles DaSilva.
Dan followed in his father’s footsteps in the family business, J. DaSilva & Sons Roofing and Siding Contractors. Through hard work, dedication, and pride in his craft, he carried on the family legacy and earned the respect of his community and all who knew him.
He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures — breakfast at the Pancake House with “the guys,” card games, fishing, and time spent at the Mountain Club House. He loved music and was especially fond of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” His favorite films, Ben-Hur and The Ten Commandments, reflected the strength and conviction by which he lived his life.
Known affectionately as “Dan the Man,” he will be remembered for his strong work ethic, deep devotion to family, St. Charles Borromeo Church, helping out many who were in need and never asking for anything in return, and warm presence that brought people together. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday, February 17th, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, Cinnaminson, NJ. Dan’s Funeral Service will begin at 12:30 p.m., officiated by Dan Kirk. Entombment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alzfdn.org
