I had the pleasure of working with Dan for the last 5+ years on the Hurricane Sandy Recovery project for NYCHA, Coney Island Sites. This resiliency project was very dear to his heart and he was extremely proud of it and dedicated to it's potential to improve the quality of life of others. Dan was the epitome of professionalism, he was very knowledgable, energetic and simply one of the best Architects I worked with on these projects for NYCHA and in my career.
He spoke often with me about his children Nathaniel, Gabriel and Ana; how much he loved them, how proud he was of them and how honored he was to be their father - I want them to know that. Both of our sons are named Gabriel and I will forever remember him telling me he calls his Gabriel "Gabe the Babe" which I plan to adopt as one of my nicknames for my Gabriel.
I was deeply saddened and shocked to hear of his passing, as I was hoping to build many more projects with him in the future, which we spoke about often. I respected him very much and he was my friend.
"Kindness and compassion are among the principal values that make our lives meaningful. They are a source of lasting happiness and joy. They are the foundation of a good heart, the heart of one who acts out of a desire to help others." - His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
This was Dan. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, from ours.
Rest In Peace Friend,
