Daniel Bruce Laubacher's Obituary
Daniel Bruce Laubacher died while on vacation in Bermuda on May 22, 2014. He was 60 years old. Dan was born in Bethesda, MD on December 31,1953 to Theodore and Wahneeta Laubacher and spent his adolescence in Truth or Consequences, NM. Dan graduated in 3 years with a B.S. in Physics from New Mexico State University (NMSU) in Las Cruces, NM. He earned a full scholarship and a teaching assistant's position at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN, where he pursued his doctoral degree in Nuclear Physics. His doctoral advisor was Professor Rolf M. Steffen, a renowned nuclear physicist who worked on the Manhattan Project in Los Alamos. Upon graduating with honors as a Ph.D. nuclear physicist from Purdue University in May 1981, Dan accepted a position at the DuPont Company in Wilmington, DE. In the mid 1980s, he moved to England to join the British Telecom-DuPont joint venture. He returned to Wilmington in 1990. He held a wide variety of technical, management, and leadership roles throughout his career and was promoted to DuPont Fellow.
Brother of the late Theodore, is survived by his fiancée, Courtney Mancine, and his brother, Michael Laubacher. He will be sorely missed by the friends and loved ones he left behind. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dan's Life Celebration Wednesday starting 6 p.m. at Snover/Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North. His Memorial Service will follow at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to Animal Welfare Association 509 Centennial Blvd., Voorhees NJ 08043.
