David Aggory Menezes' Obituary
David Aggory Menezes, late of Willingboro Township, New Jersey, passed away
peacefully at home on November 6, 2025, called home by the Lord.
David was born on February 26, 1941, in Berbice, Guyana. He served as a
sergeant in the Guyana Police Force, owned a gas station, and later dedicated
more than 20 years to Montclair State University, where he remained until his
retirement.
An ordained pastor and evangelist, he was recognized as a deeply prophetic
God-fearing man. As the lead singer of the Dominator String Band, his passion
for music shone brightly. He wrote more than 500 songs and even received an
offer for a music contract from Sony. In July 1973, he wrote, sang, and
produced one of his first songs, “Trust in the Lord,” alongside his friend Van
Kuten.
David married Bernadette Menezes on July 3, 1969, and together they had 11
children. In 2022, he moved in with his daughter Sharon, who became his
caregiver, and remained with her until his passing. A devout and prayerful man,
David had a deep love for conversation and was often found singing,
contemplating new ideas, or playing his own compositions. The company of his
grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him great joy, and they always
looked forward to his holiday visits. Regular check-in calls and prayers for his
family were part of his everyday life. Even in 2023, when admitted to the
hospital, David’s charm never faded. He continued flirting with the nurses and
kept a smile on his face regardless of his condition. When asked how he was
doing, his response was always, “I’m wonderful.” A proud father, he always
spoke highly of his children. Much of his time was spent reading the Bible,
praying, chatting on the phone, listening to music, playing instruments, and
attending church.
David's is survived by his children; his grandchildren; and other relatives, Ruth
Menezes-Allman, Juel Menezes, Abigail Menezes-Oxley, Dennis Menezes,
Michelle Menezes, David Menezes, Anthony Menezes, Deborah Menezes Gordon, Rosanne Menezes, Shane Menezes, Samuel Menezes, Qui'Mari Miller,
Harlin Miller, Aston Banjo, Shandel Menezes, Kailin Menezes, Eli Menezes,
Khalid Allman, Ahmad Allman, Delroy Gordon, and Damieon Gordon. He was preceded in death by his wife,
Bernadette Menezes, and his son, Samuel Menezes.
