Devika Mansukani's Obituary
Devika Mansukhani died peacefully in her sleep March 8, 2021. Born June 30, 1930 to Bulchand and Lachmi Kripalani in Karachi India, loving wife of Sunder for 61 years, loving mother to three children and their spouses, Kiron and John Golden of Coral Gables , FL, Ashwin and Rima Mansukani of Marlboro, NJ and Sharad and Erin Mansukani of Moorestown, NJ; and five grandchildren, Savannah and her new husband Danny, Grayson, Anika, Jayne and Grace. She is survived by the two youngest of her eight siblings - Vishnu and Maya. She is remembered for her wonderful gifts and enriching the lives of thousands of people who knew her. A fearless and adventurous pioneering woman, well ahead of her time. Leaving Karachi in 1950 as a young woman to start a new life in Bombay with her family. Traveling alone on A freighter in the late 1950s to study in South Dakota and Minnesota. Getting married to Sunder in September 1961, having two children the leaving her youngest, a new born son and returning to a new life in America with Sunder and two todlers her in 1969 to Pittsburgh and finally settling down to make the Philadelphia region her lasting home She was a medical researcher with an undergraduate degree in bio chemistry, a masters degree in nutrition and capping that off while in her 60s earning an RN degree with other students in their early 20s. Above all Devika will be most remembered by the countless people who considered her their dearest are of friends. In her spare time she mastered her passion for cooking by studying along side the elite chefs of Philadelphia. She could feed an army in a matter of minutes and make it a five star culinary experience. She travelled the world and spread her love, healed bodies and minds and fed countless hungry souls! She lived a full and meaningful life in such a way that she will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
