Dolores M. Falkenstein's Obituary
Dolores M. Falkenstein (nee Pikunas) passed away on April 21st at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late James W. Falkenstein. Dear mother of Jay G. Falkenstein (Carol) of Marlton, Lynne Gunkel (William) of Pennsauken and Dolores Wisdom of Binghamton NY. Grandmother of 9 and great grandmother of 11. Mrs. Falkenstein was a retired registered nurse having attended and worked at Women’s Medical College in Philadelphia where she met James, her husband of 52 years. She worked in Miami Beach, Rockledge FL, Ventura CA and Camden NJ. Some of her private duty patients during the 1950’s included John B. Kelly Sr., Bishop Fulton J. Sheen, former president Herbert Hoover and comedian Martha Raye. Dolores was born and raised in Tamaqua, PA. She was a 20-year resident of Leisuretown, Southampton Township and Pompano Beach FL prior to moving into assisted living. Mrs. Falkenstein followed her husband to various defense department locations in Cocoa Beach FL, Andros Bahamas, Colorado Springs CO and Camarillo CA though home was always in the South Jersey area. Dolores was an avid walker, enjoyed traveling, dancing, entertaining and card playing. She was a member of Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle, NJ Relatives and friends are invited to Dolores’s Life Celebration Monday, April 28th at Holy Eucharist Church 520 Medford Lakes Road, Tabernacle starting 10AM followed by her funeral Mass 11AM. Interment New Jersey Veteran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association National Office, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
