I met Doug in High school--we quickly became friends and we played in a band together for a couple years during our high school years. We shared the same birthday (8/15/1950) and we both got our draft notices on the same day--he went to Nam but the military didn't want me. I left NJ in 1971 but Doug and I stayed in contact for years often calling each other on our birthday. We hadn't talked to each other for a few years now and I was just thinking about calling him in the last month or so. He was a really good guy--miss ya buddy

The best thing about Doug was that he was a good man. He liked nothing more than to help people. After Hurricane Sandy my son ran out of gas at night in Newark,NJ and was surrounded by looters. Doug drove up there at midnight with a can of gas and rescued my son and brought him home safe and sound.
Doug would drop everything to help anyone always. He never judged or had a bad word for anyone. He loved road trips and mountains and Vermont. Doug was the best friend I ever had and I will miss him every minute of every day.
