Dr. Timothy Joseph Sheehan Jr.'s Obituary
Dr. Timothy Joseph Sheehan, Jr. of Cinnaminson passed away February 13, 2021 after a brief illness from COVID. Tim, also known as Doc, was married to Marie Sheehan (née Schmid) for 65 years. Together, they shepherded seven children into adulthood with a foundation built on faith, service, community and love for others over self. Their children, Marie Sheehan Boljen (Steve), Helen Sheehan (Otfried Niedermaier), Tim Sheehan (Lynn), Marty Sheehan (Sharon), Suzanne Sheehan Planas (Ramón), Maggie Sheehan Mnych (John), and Patrick Sheehan (Angela) will cherish his countless stories, his knowledge of random facts, his love of sports, but most of all, his devotion to his family. Tim’s grandchildren Erin, Catherine (Jason), Hannah (Steve), Kerstin, Ryan (Allie), Kylie, Patrick, Michael (Caroline), Christopher (Jaimee), Emily, Gabriel, Marielena, Olivia, Elizabeth, Nicole, Keegan and Molly will treasure the time spent with their Pop Pop. Whether at the shore, a family gathering or at one of their special events, Tim loved being a part of his grandchildren’s lives. He was their number one fan. His devotion to his beloved Phillies and Eagles, his patriotism, his tips on how to grow the best tomatoes, and his advice about life shaped how his children and grandchildren live their lives. Tim’s great-grandchildren, Liam, Joanie and Patrick will grow up knowing they have a champion who taught their parents and grandparents the importance of faith, family and service.
Tim is also survived by his loving sister, Sally and her husband, George Simmons. He is preceded in death by his parents, Catharine and Timothy J. Sheehan, Sr., his sister, Margaret Mary, his Uncle Joseph Martin, whom he considered his brother, and his aunts, Elizabeth and Sister Catherine Patricia, OSJ. He leaves behind hundreds of nieces, nephews and cousins who celebrate Tim’s life lessons and his many kindnesses.
For over 30 years, Tim served as a lector at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Riverside and was a longtime active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society where he had many friends. He was also past president of the Riverside Kiwanis Club and was active in Boy Scout Troop 25.
Doc cared deeply about his patients whom he attended for 45 years as a family practice dentist in Riverside, New Jersey. Known for his calm demeanor, his patients trusted him with their care and allowed him to serve many generations of the same families. He humbly offered dental care to patients in need and always respected his patients’ dignity.
Rarely having an unkind word to say about others as long as they weren’t members of the Phils or Eagles blowing a play, Tim was a reliable friend to many. He leaves behind his loyal North Catholic buddies who shared so many of life’s joys and challenges with him. Although his physical presence is no longer with us, his family, friends and those he served will always remember Tim’s kind and giving spirit.
Relatives and friends are invited to Marie and Tim’s Mass of Christian Burial at St. Charles Borromeo Parish, 2500 Branch Pike, Cinnaminson, on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:30 am. A eulogy will begin before the Mass, at 10:20 am.
