Drein Lorraine McKernan's Obituary
Drein Lorraine “Jackie” McKernan (nee Kline), 79, passed away peacefully on August 14, 2019 with her family by her side. Dear wife to the late Leo J. “Slip” McKernan. Loving mother to Leo McKernan Jr., Kathleen Canum (Will), and Lorraine “Lori” Hoey (Casey). Nanny to 10, great grandmother to 7, and honorary grandmother to the Morrison Family.
She spent her formative years growing up in Cape May County, NJ. She then made her way to Norristown, Pennsylvania where she became an ‘excellent’ waitress, and landed her wonderful husband Slip! She left the hospitality field to start a family and stayed home with her children until the late 70’s. She then stepped into the corporate world and retired in 92’ from being a corporate customer service manager. Entering semi-retirement she became a Realtor and front desk motel manager in the area of where she grew up, back to Cape May County. Phasing out of semi-retirement and into volunteering, she stayed very busy. She was a member of the VFW, Coast Guard Auxiliary, and an avid church goer. She volunteered with Hospice, Reading to the Blind, and with numerous Church groups. She loved her family, her pets, her friends, taking photos, and writing poetry (when she found the time!). She was lively and colorful so leave your dreary dark, black, gray best at home, and come celebrate with lots of color!
A gathering of friends and family to celebrate her life will take place on Saturday, August 17th at Givnish of Marlton from 11 to 12pm with a memorial service beginning at 12pm.
