Edith K D'Andrea's Obituary
Edith Kelleher D’Andrea (91) of Cinnaminson passed away on April 15, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Kelleher. Edie was the beloved wife of the late Edward B. D’Andrea for 69 years and Loving mother of Maureen D’Andrea, Paula Vagnoni (William), Elaine O’Donnell (Michael), Gregg D’Andrea (Kathleen), Edward D’Andrea, Marcy Smith (Joseph).
Grandmother (Mom-Mom) of Michelle Vagnoni Skaggs (Jeffrey), John March, Kathleen March, Michael O’Donnell (Alecia), Danielle O’Donnell Fries (Andrew), Laney O’Donnell Farrugia (Chris), Andrew O’Donnell (Lesley), Jacqueline D’Andrea, Shawn D’Andrea, Micky D’Andrea, Kelly D’Andrea, Katherine Smith, Trey Smith, Connor Smith and Kyle Smith.
Edie is also survived by seven great grandchildren (William, Joseph and Michael Skaggs, Aiden and Sawyer O’Donnell, Ellie Fries and Graham Farrugia in addition to her sister, Claire Swift, and sisters-in-law Ann Kelleher, Maureen Kelleher, Eileen Kelleher and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers William Kelleher, John Kelleher (Peg), Paul Kelleher, Michael Kelleher and sister, Joan Harkness (Jack).
Edith grew up in Wildwood, NJ during the Depression. When she became a teenager the family moved back to West Philadelphia where she graduated from West Catholic Girls High School in 1943. She received the sewing award at graduation out of a class of 400. Sewing remained her hobby, passion and business for a lifetime. During World War II she was a comptometer operator at the Philadelphia Navy Yard doing payroll and inventory work to support the war effort. She taught sewing skills to women in Camden, was an active member of the Parish Prayer Shawl Ministry and enjoyed bicycling with her lady friends regularly. Edith was the proprietor of two hotels in Wildwood, NJ and created an antique linen business in her later years. She loved to talk to people and her counsel was valued by all who knew her. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima, St. Charles Borromeo and more recently Sacred Heart Church, Riverton, NJ. She was lovingly cared for in the past three years at Brandywine Senior Living, Moorestown, NJ, Masonic Home, Burlington, NJ and finally Samaritan Hospice, Mt. Holly, NJ.
