Edmund B. DeLussey's Obituary
Edmund B. DeLussey passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2021.
Edmund was also known as Chief DeLussey, or just “Chief”. Edmund was a 34-year veteran of the Cinnaminson Police Department. His police career took him through the ranks from Patrolman in 1964, to Sergeant in 1974, Captain in 1979, and he finished his tenure as the Cinnaminson Police Chief from 1989 until he celebrated his retirement in 1998. Throughout his impressive career in law enforcement he consistently set a standard of excellence for others to follow. Edmund was also a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, a 1976 alumni of Glassboro State College (BA), and a graduate of the FBI Academy 1978 and received a Certificate Degree from the University of Virginia. In 1991 Chief DeLussey joined the esteemed BCC Hall of Fame. Edmund completed all of his degrees while working for the Cinnaminson Police Department.
Ed is survived by his wife Mary Ellen (nee Russell) of nearly 55 years, his children Lori Oakley, Corinne Groark and her husband James, Edmund John and his wife Josselyn, grandchildren, Jennifer, JD, Sean, Mackenzie, Kyle, Liam, and Maris as well as 7 great grandchildren. Edmund was a loving and generous Husband, Father, and Poppy.
Ed loved to spend time with family and friends and always had time to greet or share a laugh with a neighbor. He loved travelling with Mary Ellen all over the world and they met many friends along the way. Ed spent many years restoring and showing his beloved 1975 Corvette Stingray. He was a regular in the Riverton Fourth of July parade. Ed always had time for donut and a cup coffee. Ed was a very active member of his community and his parish at Sacred Heart in Riverton. His generous spirit and ability to make anyone fell welcome will be greatly missed.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, May 6th from 9-10:30 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130 North.
His Funeral Mass will follow 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church Riverton.
Entombment, with Military Honors, will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Social distancing and face masks are required.
