Edward M. Dougherty Sr's Obituary
Edward M. Dougherty Sr. affectionately known as Poppy, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 31, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Claire Dougherty (nee Canning). Loving father of Edward (Joann), Claire (Robert) Davies, Joseph (Denise), Patrick (Margaret), Kathleen and David (April). Cherished Poppy to 16 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He earned a living as a truck driver for Keystone Wire and Iron in Bethayres, PA for over 30 years. He also worked for United Refrigeration (post retirement). After growing up in Cape May Court House, Poppy lived in various places including Philadelphia, Maple Shade and Atco, NJ. He loved taking trips to Cape May to visit his siblings as well as trips to casinos in AC and Philly. Poppy was an avid Eagles fan and season ticket holder dating back to the days of Franklin field. Poppy was beyond thrilled when they finally won the Super Bowl. Poppy enjoyed watching sports of all kinds with the Eagles and Sixers being his favorites. He often vacationed down the Jersey shore, spending time with his family.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday, April 7th, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Givnish of Maple Shade 600 East Main Street. Funeral Service begins at 11 a.m.
