Edward Paul Drzik, of Palmyra New Jersey, Formerly of Cinnaminson, passed away to eternal rest on December 25th 2022 at BrightView Senior Living in Mount Laurel, where he had resided since February 2021.
Born in Newark, NJ on March 8th 1934 to the late Paul and Anna (Koptula) Drzik, who both arrived from Czechoslovakia to the United States as young adults, Ed was 88 years old.
Edward was the beloved father of Kevin Drzik (Deborah), and Michael Drzik; grandfather of Russell and Max.
Ed attended Valparaiso University where he earned a degree in Social Work. He then proceeded to the University of Chicago for his Master’s in Social Work after serving active duty state-side in the United States Army and being honorably discharged as a Sergeant in the Army Medical Department as a Social Work Specialist stationed at an evacuation hospital in El Paso, Texas.
He had over 40 years of experience in various Social Work roles throughout the Delaware Valley, focusing primarily on children and youth adoptions programs. Ed came to Philadelphia to work for the Lutheran Aid Society and proceeded on in his career with stops as Assistant Director at The Children’s Aid Society of Montgomery County in Norristown, PA and then retiring from his 40+ year career at both the Burlington County Board of Social Services and Steininger Center in Cherry Hill, NJ.
Ed was an active member of his church, Martin Luther Chapel and their affiliated Christian Day School for decades, after becoming a member in the late 1960s. He took his roles as school board member of the Martin Luther Chapel Christian Day School with dedication for well beyond his retirement from the work force.
In retirement he acquired many extended “like-family and friends” at several local restaurants that he frequented daily in the Palmyra, Cinnaminson, and Delran area, especially the Route 130 Diner in Delran, where he was fondly known as “Mr. Ed.”
Friends are invited to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 28th 2023 at Martin Luther Chapel, 4100 Terrace Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ. Family visitation from 10:30AM-11:00AM. A memorial service will begin at 11AM.
