Edward Joseph Milewski's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Edward Joseph Milewski on August 7, 2024, at the age of 77. Ed was born on March 24, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA, the eldest of 5 children to Edward and Mary (Aichroth) Milewski. Ed was raised in the Frankford section of Philadelphia with his family. Ed is survived by two sisters, Chrissy (Jelnicki) and Carol (Seladones). He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bobby and Danny. Ed enjoyed many childhood summers with his family outside of Philadelphia at Aunt Mary’s and Uncle Joe’s mountain cabin near Hazleton, PA where he developed a strong love for nature on earth and a keen curiosity about the skies above.
Ed married Rosemarie (Bartkowski) of Bridesburg, PA in 1973 and they established a home and family in Cinnaminson, NJ. Ed and Rose celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in May 2023. Ed is survived by his wife and 3 children, Michelle (Ransome), Corinne (Bielemeier), Ed (Jr.) and 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Morgan, and Eric.
Ed spent his early adulthood actively enjoying bowling, shooting darts, and playing softball with the buddies he grew up with in Philadelphia. He continued his admiration for nature as an aquarist (meticulously building and maintaining an aquarium in his home) and as an avid tomato gardener in the fertile Jersey soil in his backyard.
Ed worked for many years as a precision machinist developing parts and instruments—occasionally including aeronautic parts for “rocket ships,” which gave him great pride in his work. And although he never made it to outer space personally, he shared many happy moments with his family during his life witnessing incredible celestial events and space launches, including the rare solar eclipse in 2024.
Those who knew Ed know that he was a serious Phillies and Eagles fan. And while these teams painfully lack in championships, Ed had the great honor in his lifetime to witness the one and only Eagles Super Bowl in 2018 as well as the rare World Series championship for the Phillies in 1980 when his son was born and again in 2008 when his first grandson was born.
His three grandchildren were the heart of his life for the past 16 years, making precious memories and sharing treasured history with them to pass on to future generations. Ed died peacefully surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces and nephews. And although his body is not with us any longer, the next time you are relishing a Phillies or Eagles victory, witnessing a major celestial event, or simply eating a great Jersey tomato, you will find him there.
