Edward James Ramsay's Obituary
Edward J. Ramsay passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015.
He was the loving husband to Marianne (Walsh) Ramsay; dear father to Edward Ramsay (Carole), Timothy Ramsay (Eileen) and Carolyn Warren (Michael); son to the late James and Emily Ramsay; grandfather to Kirsten, Caitlin and Eric Ramsay, Tricia Sowinski (Karl), James (Katelyn) and Michael Ramsay, Erin, Sean and Brendan Warren; great grandfather to Aiden Patrick Ramsay; and brother to Richard (Claire) Ramsay.
Ed was born in Weehawken, N.J. and raised in Jersey City. He graduated from Newark College of Engineering with a degree in mechanical engineering and served in the U.S. Army Ordnance Corp during the Korean War. He was employed as an engineering manager at the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia until it was deactivated in 1977. He met his beloved wife Marianne during his military assignment in Philadelphia. In 1977, he was employed by the Insurance Co. of North America as a safety professional and remained there through its transition into the CIGNA Corporation until 1988. He continued in the insurance industry as a self-employed loss control consultant until retiring to a life of leisure in 2001. He resided in Riverside, since 1956 with his wife and three children; where he also served as a founding trustee and building chairman of the Riverdel Swim Club.
Friends and relatives are invited to Ed's Life Celebration Friday, Nov. 6, at Snover-Givnish of Cinnaminson, 1200 Route 130 North, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. His Funeral Mass will take place at Jesus the Good Shepherd, formerly St. Peter's, in Riverside, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park in Cinnaminson.
