Edward J. Shade Jr.'s Obituary
Edward J. Shade, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Born in Philadelphia to Edward and Dorothea Shade, Ed was 70 years old. He was a resident of Delran since 2000.
Ed is survived by his loving companion for the last 23 years, Eileen M. Boardman, his sons Christopher (Sarah) Shade and Tim (Stephanie) Shade, the mother of his sons Marie (Shade). Ed is the cherished Grandpop to Theodora and Scarlett and brother of David (Terry) Shade and Thomas Shade. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, and close friends and members of his bands Emett Gray and Fever Zone.
Ed received his associates degree from the Community College of Philadelphia and was employed as a respiratory therapist for Children‘s Hospital of Philadelphia, a job that he loved, for the last 42 years.
Ed had a lifelong passion for music and was a self-taught multi-instrumentalist playing drums, guitar, and bass. He loved The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and classic rock and roll. Ed was outgoing, quick-witted, and brought smiles to the faces of everyone he met with perfectly crafted, sometimes inappropriate jokes and stories. He was a man of many interests who immersed himself into whatever topic or hobby piqued his interest. He also had a great love for his Labrador Retrievers (Riley, Abbey, Maggie, Murphy Katie, and Mikey).
A gathering of family and friends will be held Tuesday from 7-9p.m. and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Givnish of Cinnaminson 1200 Route 130.
Ed’s Funeral Mass will follow 10:30 a.m. at the Resurrection Parish Church of the Holy Name Site 260 Conrow Road Delran.
