Elizabeth 'Betty' Sauer's Obituary
Heartfelt & Personal
Elizabeth T. Sauer, known lovingly to all as Betty, passed away peacefully in her sleep on
June 4, 2026, at the age of 100. A lifelong woman of grace, generosity, and quiet strength,
Betty leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and caring that touched everyone fortunate
enough to know her.
Born on December 25, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Betty was a true Christmas gift
to the world. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Wilhelmina McMenamin. She
was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Louis E. Sauer, as well as her brother
Edward McMenamin.
Betty built her life around service to others. She worked for many years as a Supervisor of
Residents at the Lutheran Home in Moorestown, New Jersey, a role that perfectly suited
her compassionate nature. Whether she was caring for residents at work or looking after
her own family, Betty had a remarkable way of making people feel seen and valued.
Her passions were simple and deeply held. She loved reading, spending time at the Jersey
Shore, and indulging in chocolate. Above all, she cherished her family. Betty is survived by
her three children, Lou Sauer, Bill Sauer, and Linda Casacci, along with ten grandchildren,
fifteen great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. Her family was her greatest
joy and her proudest accomplishment.
Betty was a long time and devout member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Maple Shade,
New Jersey, where she poured herself into the life of the congregation. She sang in the
choir, often lending her voice to beautiful solos, and served faithfully in the altar guild, Bible
study, and women's club. Her faith was the foundation of everything she did, and she
carried it with warmth and sincerity rather than pretense. She trusted deeply in God's
promises and lived each day as a reflection of that trust.
A Celebration of Life will be held on July 9, 2026, at Givnish Funeral Home, 398 East Main
Street, Marlton, NJ 08053. Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, with the
service beginning at 11:00 AM.
You will be missed by those of us whose lives you touched.
